Sila Tea impresses tea enthusiasts in Las Vegas

“It’s really good. It’s really smooth … I can drink a lot more than this little cup,” said a man in his 40s after sipping a cup of plastic tea served at the booth of Sila Tea House during the World Tea Expo 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, recently.

Another visitor, an elder man wearing a grey T-shirt and a  baseball cap, looked amazed after sipping a cup of tea.  “Auw, this is amaz …. Try, this,” he said, inviting his friend to sip the tea.

They were visitors to the booth of Sila Tea House, one of Madeinindonesia.com members, participating in the World Tea Expo 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States last June 28-30, 2021.

The producer of artisan tea brought choices of tea to the prestigious tea expo. Aside from Sila Tea House products, Indonesia also brought a variety of tea from Mustika Ratu and TongTji.

They included green tea, jasmine tea, kaffir lime tea and curcuma tea. Choices of artisan team, consisting of high-quality Indonesian herbs were also on display, such as Telang (Asian pigeonwings), Secang (biancaean sappan), Pandanus leaves, rose, cocoa bean and other floral flavor.

Sila Tea House owner Iriana Ekasari said it was truly an honor for her company to be selected as one of the exhibitors at the World Tea Expo 2021 in Nevada, representing Indonesian artisan tea category.

Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Los Angeles arranged the Indonesian booth and some companies in tea industry to exhibit their best products.

“We sent 10 of our best products which we identified could meet the need of the cafe industry in the US. Among those tea, the ones named Jeda, Kasmaran and Bumi Harmoni were able to obtain high interest from potential buyers,” she told Madeinindonesia.com.

She said it was her first participation in the international exhibition, adding that she gained enormous learning and experience on how to prepare and win the attention from the potential buyers.

According to her, participating in this kind of event was very helpful to understand the market and build business presence in the global competitive market.

“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the marvelous ITPC LA Team for their great work. The booth design was highly attractive, best booth location and very well planning and execution. Bravo!” she said.

ITPC Los Angeles projected Indonesia could potentially earn US$500,000 in transaction from the three-day tea expo.

The expo also showcased spirit drinks made from grapes, nutmeg and Kemukus (cubeb).

“The Indonesian companies showcased their products at the venue and the owner joined the expo virtually. Approximately, 700 people visited Indonesian booth,” said ITPC Los Angeles head Bayu Nugroho in a statement.

Total trade between Indonesia and US in January-April 2021 was recorded at $10.87 billion, increasing 21.09 percent compared to same period last year.

Indonesia booked $7.63 billion in its export to the US and spent $3.23 billion in import.
