Luhut Panjaitan Chairs ‘Made in Indonesia’ Team To Boost Sales of Local Products
 
 
In order to boost the sales or transactions of “Made in Indonesia” products, President Joko Widodo has setup a ministerial-level team which is tasked to promote a national movement on “Proud of Made in Indonesia Products” known  as “Gernas BBI”.
 
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has appointed Coordinating Maritime and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan as the team’s chairman.
 
Luhut is assisted by three deputies, namely Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo and chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso.
 
“The team [Gernas BBI] is responsible to the President,” according to Presidential Decree No. 15/2021.
 
Among the major tasks of the team are: First, to achieve the Gernas BBI targets, which are increasing the number of SMEs and digital creative economy players; increasing the sales and transactions of Made in Indonesia products; increasing the people’s purchasing power, market expansion, access to capital/funding, training and acceleration of local economic circle.
 
Second, synchronizing Gernas BBI programs with its public campaign. Third, monitoring and evaluating the steps to achieve Gernas BBI target. Fourth, giving update report on the progress of Gernas BBI.
 
In carrying its duties, the Luhut-led team can collaborate with ministries, local administrations, association, industries, organizations, academicians and media.
 
The “Proud of Made in Indonesia Products” movement is in line with the idea of B2B e-commerce tech platform Madeinindonesia.com in promoting Indonesian products and assisting small business players to expand to global market.
